This year...
Saturday. 11.24.07
listening to: Last Christmas by Wham!

Thanksgiving has come and gone. It was really good this year. Not as many leftovers as there used to be... but that's probably for the best. lol
This year all Mom had to make was the turkey and a couple vegetables for the dinner. My sister-in-law Michelle made the pies and the dressing, and my other brother's girlfriend brought a green bean casserole. It's been awesome not having to make as much every year. It's pretty much been this way since my eldest brother Eric got married to 'Mistress of the Kitchen' Michelle. She loves to cook and bake. So we let her. lol

After we had dinner (at about 1:30-ish), most of us either found a spot on a couch and conked out, or sat around the cleared-off table and chatted. After a couple of hours of this, Eric and Michelle went to go have supper at her mom's, while the rest of us readied ourselves to go downtown on the Plaza for the annual Plaza holiday lighting. It was great because instead of standing outside in the bitter cold, with 10,000 other people where you can't see much except for maybe one building and all the people crowded in front of you, we got to watch it all from the someteenth floor of a building just outside of the lit plaza in a warm and cozy office of an acquaintance. It was great that we had such an opportunity - we got to watch the famous lighting (for the first time in my 18 years of residency in the Kansas City area - pretty sad, I've always thought) from the warmth and comfort of an office library.
"Office library?" you ask? Well, the floor we were on held the offices for a company that edits, prints and produces comic books and the like. From what I understood, anyways. Our hookup was my brother Isaac's girlfriend's roommate who works there. She let us use her ID badge to get in and everything. It was pretty fun.

After the lighting downtown, we went back to Isaac's house, heated up some popcorn, opened up a bag of pretzels, and watched Deck The Halls on pay-per-view, and then Miss Congeniality on Lifetime. It was fun. =)

Yesterday, "Black Friday", I did pretty much nothing. I just sat around and watched a bunch of TV and movies while I knitted. My sister-in-law wanted to give out scarves to some friends, and asked my little sister Natalie and I to knit them for her. So we've been knitting as often as we can remember to get them all done in time. So far we've collectively produced about five scarves, I think. Michelle says she needs at least 12 - I've got a lot of knitting ahead of me... Knitting scarves is really easy, especially with chunky yarns, but it's just so time consuming. But I'm sure we'll get 'em done in time. I hope. =|

Today was loads of fun. At about 2pm, Isaac and Eric came over to the house, and we got all our Christmas tree stuff out, and progressed to set it all up. By the time we pieced the tree together and got lights on it, though, they had to leave, so Donald, Natalie and I had to put up the ornaments by ourselves. It wasn't a big deal, it's just that they had to miss the best part for prior engagements.

After dinner, though, we (Donald, Natalie, Isaac, Elizabeth - Isaac's girlfriend, and I) went out to Legends (a big outdoor shopping mall by the Kansas Speedway) and shopped around for a couple hours. We ended up only going into three stores (all owned by the same head, actually; I thought that was funny) by the time we realized it was 9pm and everyone was closing down.
First off, because it was closest and Elizabeth had a giftcard, we went into Banana Republic. Everything in the store was 40% off - everything. It was great. I found two cute shirts in the clearance rack, and both ended up being under $20 each. (one was $12, the other $18) It was awesome.
Then we went into The Gap, and I found a cute sweater that was 50% off, making it only $17.50. But that was about the only thing in there that caught my eye. But anyways.
After that, we of course went into Old Navy. Mostly to find Natalie some jeans... but anyways. I didn't buy anything there, 'cause I didn't really see anything that appealed to me at the time. Probably because I didn't want to spend more than I already had. Though they had a scent I really liked. I don't even remember what it was called now. ha

And that has been the extent of my Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Maybe, if you're lucky, I'll take pictures of my schnazzy new Gap sweater that I like so much. Maybe. Maybe not. You never know......

Thanks! I loved those shoes. They were only $11!
I live in New Mexico. The snow just started on Thanksgiving. It was great! I love the snow! And I can't wait for Christmas. I hope it snows again.

I need to go shopping while the sales are still on! Especially if Banana Republic has sales! I love that store. But I always spend too much money there. You got some pretty good deals though!
